Business Startup
Starting a small business? No need to be intimidated. We will simplify the process and help you easily navigate through the maze of forms and other requirements. We can help you decide on what business form may be appropriate for your situation (e.g. sole proprietorship, corporation, LLC) and assist you in meeting the important and specific requirements associated with formalizing your business. We can help you establish your initial accounting system and advise you on your record keeping, tax filing and other responsibilities. If applicable, we can also assist you in compiling a professional loan request package for presentation to a lender and advise you on other start-up related needs. Proper set-up and planning is key to allowing you to focus more time on actually operating your business and less time on non-productive administrative matters. Fees are hourly or service-specific, depending on the nature of the work. Estimates are provided in advance of work performed. Accounting & Tax
Once a good foundation has been initially established for a business, concerns naturally shift to operations and other responsibilities that are ongoing in nature. For most business owners, these concerns and responsibilities boil down to two basic areas: “compliance (with governmental requirements)” and “operations.” Our accounting and tax services can relieve you of the significant compliance-related burdens associated with running a business, as well as provide you with effective tools for continually measuring and monitoring the progress and direction of your business. Available services include: the preparation of business income, payroll and sales tax returns; the preparation of the owners’ individual income tax returns; the preparation of required business information returns; the compilation of financial statements (including comparative reports); advice on tax saving strategies; and, continual or as-needed accounting and administrative support. Services are tailored to your unique needs and priorities. Fees are hourly or available on a convenient monthly retainer basis. Estimates are provided in advance of work performed.
Bookkeeping
Not surprisingly, many small business owners dread the very necessary, but often very time consuming, task of bookkeeping; the detailed process of accurately recording, summarizing and checking all the numbers associated with operating a business. The average business owner, in fact, can be quite intimidated or easily overwhelmed at the prospect of adding up long columns of numbers with a calculator, keying data in a computer program, completing bank reconciliations, or confused by jargon that includes debits and credits, proofs, ledgers, trial balances, accruals and journal entries. However, neglect this important aspect of running a business, and not only do you significantly increase the chance of business failure, but you increase the likelihood that you and/or your business will come under unwanted scrutiny. Such scrutiny can, in turn, lead to the assessment of severe civil and possibly criminal penalties. Fortunately, we can help. Whether you prefer a paper-based system for your business books or computer software such as Quickbooks, Money, Peachtree or others, we will take your raw receipts and disbursements data, appropriately classify your business activity, complete your bank reconciliations and related proofs and otherwise keep your books and records up-to-date. Fees are hourly or available on a convenient monthly retainer basis. Estimates are provided in advance of work performed.Retirement Plan Solutions
In today's challenging and ever-changing economic climate, the ability to retire is increasingly a top concern among working adults, but unlike employees, business owners have the additional challenge of having to establish suitable and cost-effective retirement plans for themselves and/or their employees and comply with related and often complex governmental requirements related to these plans. We can review with you the features of the many different retirement plan options available (e.g. defined contribution, defined benefit, 401K, SIMPLE, Traditional and Roth IRAs), help you make an appropriate choice for you and your business and assist you in establishing the plan. We can also offer investment planning and management services as described on our Individual Services page. Fees are hourly or service-specific depending on the nature of the work. Estimates are provided in advance of work performed.
